When the rainbow is viewed from the front, all 6 colors are clearly distinguishable. When viewed from either side, the light appears white as the colors mix together.
The way you move through the light determines the optical effect from a curtain like hologram to a sculptural object, the different colors appear to give off different levels of heat and mood.
As the audience moves through the piece, choreographed by the light, they are performing for everyone else in the room, allowing for the audience to perform for itself. The haze gives a false sense of privacy as while in the light, it is nearly impossible to see the on-looking viewers in the room.
